Despite the federal legislation of the Do-Not-Call list, many people still receive telemarketer phone calls on a regular basis. Although you can report the violators to various government agencies, few take the time to do so. But now there is a web site that can help: Callercomplaints.com aims to build the largest telemarketer database on the web, built entirely by user submissions.About CallerComplaintsThe idea behind the CallerComplaints web site is simple. If you receive an annoying call from a telemarketer, you can search the database to see if the number has already been entered and, if so, you can add your complaint to the file. If the number does not show up in the search results, you can enter in a new complaint. For a complaint to be entered, you must fill in the phone number, the caller type (telemarketer, political caller, debt collector, prank caller, or unknown), the complaint details, and you must complete the CAPTCHA before clicking “File.” You don’t have to provide your name – that field is optional – and, if you know who is calling you, there is a box for that as well. Filing a ComplaintThere is also a section on the site called “spoofed numbers,” which categorizes the more unethical telemarketers who trick Caller IDs to display an incorrect phone number, something that is done so you can’t report them. On CallerComplaints, however, you can still file complaints against these spoofed numbers.Users on the site can mark each other’s feedback at useful or report feedback as spam, but doing so doesn’t appear to actually have any impact on whether or not the feedback is displayed or how it is ranked. How Filing a Complaint HelpsInstead of relying on the government to resolve the telemarketer problem, CallerComplaints wants to publicly shame companies instead. The web site’s content is designed to be easily indexed by search engines, so the next time someone searches for a number using one of the major search engines, they’ll find the complaints submitted about that number at the top of their search results, hopefully displaying the company’s name, as well.Unfortunately, since many shady telemarketers have their calls masked so as to display as “unknown number” on Caller ID, neither this site nor the government’s Do Not Call’s complaint filing service can help resolve that problem. In theory, the data collected by the site could be used to file joint-action complaints with government agencies, but CallerComplaints does not actually have plans to get involved to this extent to provide a service like this, leaving legal action in the hands of the government. However, as an online database to research those mystery numbers, the site does a good job of making it easy to find numbers, file complaints, and leave feedback, which, at the very least, makes for a very cathartic experience. India defeated West Indies by four wickets in the World Cup, Pool B clash on FridayAfter beating the West Indies in a World Cup Pool B encounter at the WACA on Friday, an elated Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni credited his bowlers for keeping the opposition batsmen on a tight leash. The Indian bowlers were upto the mark from the very first over of the day, as they rarely hurled a bad delivery to the rival batsmen giving away just eight runs from the first five overs.Mohammad Shami, later adjudged the Man-of-the-Match, was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-35 from his eight overs. Pacer Umesh Yadav (2-42) and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja (2-27) chipped in to take two wickets each, as the West Indies were bowled out for a paltry 182.India chased the total down with four wickets and 65 deliveries to spare. They registered fourth straight victory and qualified to the quarterfinals.”It was a difficult wicket, even initially with the new ball. There was some variable bounce, it was doing a bit. It settled down later, there was some swing for the West Indies bowlers as well, with the new ball,” Dhoni, who scored unbeaten 45 from 56 balls, said at the post-match presentation ceremony.”Our bowlers didn’t try too much. They stuck to their line and length. It (wicket) had a bit more bounce and we gave quite a few wides bowling bouncers. But we also got wickets with the short-pitched delivery, so overall very happy with our performance,” Dhoni added.advertisementDhoni added the target was a tricky one to chase down on such a dicy strip but said it was also a good chance to test out the middle-order.”It is a difficult target, because you don’t know whether to go and play your shots. It was a good chance to test out lower middle-order. Ashwin played well.””Jadeja will have to step up and if he starts scoring runs, it will be a very difficult line-up to contain.”Asked about the challenges they will face against Ireland and Zimbabwe when they travel to New Zealand, he said: “The last time we were in New Zealand, there were true wickets. We’ll have to see what kind of wickets are provided, but generally the ball comes on, there is some bounce.””The grounds are small so that is one area where we will have to adjust,” concluded the skipper.India next play Ireland on March 10 in Hamilton, followed by their trip to Auckland where they play Zimbabwe on March 14.
Atletico Madrid 3 Las Palmas 0: Griezmann & Torres cut Barca lead to eight Nicholas McGee Last updated 1 year ago 01:06 1/29/18 Getty Images After three games without a win, Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres helped Atletico Madrid beat Las Palmas 3-0. Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres were on the scoresheet as Atletico Madrid got back to winning ways and cut the gap to LaLiga leaders Barcelona to eight points with a 3-0 victory over Las Palmas.Atletico had failed to win any of their last three games, being held by Girona and losing in both legs of their Copa del Rey tie with Sevilla, and they were unconvincing for long periods against their struggling visitors with striker Diego Costa again out of the squad.Parity at half-time was justified for Paco Jemez’s side despite Griezmann hitting the bar for Atletico, but Diego Simeone’s men stepped up a gear in the second half. A Liverpool legend in the making: Behind Virgil van Dijk’s remarkable rise to world’s best player Griezmann made it 1-0 in the 61st minute as Las Palmas were caught on the counter, and they were failed to learn their lesson from that goal.A stray pass allowed Atletico to again break quickly, and the move was wonderfully finished off by Torres for only his second league goal of the campaign and the 600th Atleti goal under Simeone in all competitions.Thomas Partey added late gloss to the scoreline but, while triumph narrows what should be a decisive lead for Barca, the leaders will be expected to stretch it back to 11 when they take on Deportivo Alaves later on Sunday.7 – Antoine Griezmann has scored more goals at Wanda Metropolitano than any other player (seven – all competitions).
